If someone gives a speech and no television cameras are their, does anyone hear it?
So Kerry came to Portland town while Bush visited the whitebread suburbs of Beaverton and Tigard--they arrived at pretty much the same time, but Bush spoke to people at a rally on a high school football field, which was covered by all 4 local tv stations, while no cameras were turned on at the Kerry rally until Bush finished speeking. Kerry's wife Theresa jabbered bravely on while Bush spoke, which is odd since the rally boasted Leonardo DiCaprio and Jon Bon Jovi. So Kerry waited until the Bush man finished and they turned on the cameras.
What does it all mean? The thousands of people at the Kerry rally were props for the evening news. They were of less importance than the television audience who would see a quick clip of Kerry on the evening news. What took place in Portland today was the conflict of two marketing campaigns, not necessarily 2 political campaigns.
I was in an office building a few blocks from the Kerry rally. I need this temp job to pay September's rent and couldn't sneak away.
But, I cannot stay awake in this fucking place. I am doing meaningless computer based hack work. I really didn't want to come here today...Boredom, exhausting drugery and degradation
Kerry is going wind-surfing in the Columbia Gorge. I am stuck with young women in the office for a little over another hour--if these people would just shut up, shut up, shut fucking up--I don't want to hear 1/2 hour tales about the landlady your ex-boyfriend had in France, or your canoe trip last night on the lake or what language the Harry Potter spells are based on--christ--on and on and on and on and on--Gaaaahhh...
I'd even ride the Bush campaign bus to get the fuck out of here.
Oh God, the horror, the horror, exterminate the brutes.
